Thursday

I made a checklist of things that I have to get a good start on (at the very least) for this upcoming school week.  Out of all the hours that I've spent this weekend none of been so draining as working through the finer details of the performance piece I'll be doing on Thursday.  I'm excited and beyond nervous of how it will be received by the audience.  I feel like so much is riding on how well I deliver my message.
It's the most personal piece I've ever done.  And I'm so proud of it.  I just don't know if i can do it justice.

in memoriam

I've been having some trouble concentrating today.  Sad things remind me of other sad things and in no time at all I catch myself looking at the fb page of my dead high school friend.  I think back to the interactions that we had as I scan the posts left there by grieving friends and family members.  The post have slowed down over the 5 years he has been gone. However, there are the devoted few that can't forget or don't want to.
I've never posted on his wall.  I don't think I ever will.  But today I thought about telling telling him that I miss him.  I really do.  The world was a better place when he was here.

I have been checking the weather at least 5x a day for the past week.  Hoping for good news (60-110 degrees).

WBF

Potato and I have been going to Winter Beer Fest since before we moved to MI.  We've had trouble in the past deciding who to bring and who to leave behind.  It's a hard game to play.  You want somebody  that will pace themselves, that you don't mind hanging out with for over 12hrs, and that has a good presence.  Being with overly dramatic or psychopathic people with a death wish is no fun.  Needless to say, going with a good crew is what can make or break a beer fest.
Winter Beer Fest is quickly becoming one of my favorite holidays.  The festival itself has grown exponentially over the years.  They are always adding new breweries and thousands of more tickets to sell.
Every year, we do the same thing:
Buy Subway sammies for the festival.  They're a life saver.
Layer up - it's February
Get to the festival early so you don't have to wait in line that goes back farther than what you thought was actually possible
Sample as many beers as possible and always report to Moose as he is keeping score
Chat with strangers - they are delightful
Join in on the shooting off your guns and the "OOHHHHHHH"-ing - also delightful
Find other people with Chicago sports gear on - there is safety in numbers
Regroup and head back to the hotel
Take a nap or a swim
Head to the streets for dinner (this year we went to a little bar off the main strip and it was awesome. The staff was very friendly and a couple of them even came over, sat down, and chatted with us.  Happy 30th Amy!)
Go to Mojo's the piano bar and dance (even though the people there are the worst people in the world)
Get some grub to take home and call it a night

It's like Christmas in Wisconsin.  It's the same every year and I'd like it to stay that way.  You guys are invited back.
